GoodWork announces a new payment partnership with GCash

GoodWork is excited to announce a new payment partnership with GCash to enable easier and safer payments on the largest home services app in the Philippines.

The COVID-19 pandemic is causing Filipino consumers to increasingly adopt cashless payment technologies to reduce physical contact and exposure to the COVID-19 virus. GCash, one of the pioneering digital payments companies in the country, recently reported an 800% increase in monthly transactions. GCash’s CTO Pebbles Sy has noted that “Aside from convenience, it is also less risky than cash handling, more efficient than physical payments, and is also very transparent.”

To adapt to the new normal, GoodWork partnered with GCash to enable GCash payment in the GoodWork app. “We are very excited to be offering Gcash payments in the GoodWork app. In the current environment, it’s especially important to offer safe and easy contact payment options for our users,” said GoodWork’s CEO, Andrew Koger.

Users can choose to pay with GCash in the GoodWork app with just a couple clicks. The user selects the category they want to avail, inputs the details, and chooses GCash as the payment method. Confirmation and verification of the payment are all done in the GoodWork app after the service is completed, and the payment is secured with an SMS verification code sent by GCash. The service provider, customer, and GoodWork all receive a confirmation message so everyone knows the payment was successful.

The Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) has emphasized the importance of social distancing to help prevent the spread of the virus. Cashless payments are a useful way to maintain social distancing even during payment transactions for home services.

Furthermore, as more companies like GoodWork offer cashless digital payment options, this helps the country reach the central bank’s target to achieve 50% share of electronic payments by 2023. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Chairman Benjamin E. Diokno recently stated that: “We see the use of digital payments gaining momentum in the post-coronavirus environment.”
