With a 5-star average rating and dozens of sukis who’ve all favorited her, ate Diana is a valued member of the GoodWork Cleaning team. Today we shine the spotlight on her contributions to GoodWork and her years of experiences in the world of professional housekeeping.
“Nag-start ako sa GoodWork noong August 2019. Dalawang taon na ang lumipas, at ngayon, Team Leader na ako ng Makati Cleaning,” she says cheerfully. Before GoodWork, she worked as a Domestic Helper in the Middle East. Realizing that she didn’t have to leave her loved ones to earn a living, she decided to stay in the country. “DH ako sa Middle East ng mahigit 3 years. Pero kasi okay naman yung kita ko dito, tapos hindi ako malalayo sa pamilya ko, kaya mas gusto ko dito.”
As a domestic helper, not only was she forced to leave her family in the Philippines, she also had to confront the heaviness of being alone in a foreign country, whose culture is far different from hers: “Kapag sa abroad, nakaka-homesick talaga. Doon mo mararamdaman yung lungkot,” she explains. “Akala mo madali lang, pero hindi pala. Sa GoodWork nakakauwi ako everyday, nakikita ko mahal ko sa buhay, tapos hindi ko sila kailangan tawagan lang para makausap.”
With 2 years of GoodWork experience, ate Diana has seen it all—heartwarming customers and hard-to-clean corners among others . But her favorite part about her line of work? The different kinds of people she gets to meet daily. “Marami na po akong nakikilala na mga tao, at iba-iba rin yung mga ugali. Dati nga mahiyain ako at di pala-kibo, pero noong pumasok ako sa GoodWork, naging madaldal na ako at palabati na.”
“Noon, di ko rin alam yung mga lugar sa Makati, naiiyak pa nga ako kasi hindi ko alam, pero ngayon alam ko na paano bumiyahe, kung saan yung mga shortcut. Madami akong natutunan talaga sa sarili ko at sa mundo dahil sa GoodWork.”
Teary-eyed, she wanted us to know how grateful she is that GoodWork extended extra help to her and fellow cleaners over the pandemic: “Always thankful po ako sa mga narereceive na blessings, comments, reviews. At nagpapasalamat po ako sa GoodWork, kasi kahit pandemic, malaki yung tulong sa amin. Kahit na nag-stop yung mga bookings, hindi po huminto ang tulong sa amin.”
