Specials Spotlight: Jessica Teodoro

Jessica Teodoro is a multi-skilled service provider—initially entering GoodWork as a Massage Therapist, she’s also a Nail Technician who provides high-quality nail services for GoodWork users. Today we shine the spotlight on Ate Jess, a passionate beauty service expert and mother of one.

Jess started her professional journey as a beauty service technician in Zennya, where she grew her skills in both massage techniques and nail service: “Mga 3 years mahigit na po akong therapist,” she adds. She decided to transfer to GoodWork and become a service partner of the company in 2019, and since then has been able to offer packaged services for both nails and massage clients.

The Staycation Package—which includes a 30-minute, full-body coffee scrub, an hour-long massage of choice, and a regular manicure with hand paraffin treatment—is one of the Specials services that ate Jess can provide on her own, without the help of a partner SP. “Sa panahon ngayon na iniiwasan ng mga tao na maraming tao at bisita ang pupunta sa bahay nila, maganda po para sa isang kliyente na magbook ng isang service provider na alam at kaya gawin lahat ng nasa package. Mamiminimize yung exposure nila sa virus, at maiiiwasan po yung sayang sa oras pag separate na bookings pa ang nails at massage. Pwede ko na po kasing gawin yung mga service ng sunod-sunod, at hindi na nila kailangan mag-alala at mag-update pa sa isa pang SP. Hindi na sila magagahol sa oras at hindi rin magmamadali na iaccommodate yung isa pang service pro.”

She believes that the reputation that’s usually attached to massage therapists in Metro Manila is an unfair misconception that many people need to unlearn: “Marangal pong trabaho ang pagiging masahista. Sa Manila ko nalang rin po kasi narinig yung mga extra services at mga hindi magandang gawain sa industriya. Pero ang pagiging masahista po, magandang trabaho. Hindi lang po dahil sa kita, pero napapagaan mo pa ang pakiramdam ng kliyente. Nagpapasalamat sila sayo kasi natatanggal yung sakit nila sa katawan. Hindi po mababang uri ng trabaho ang pagiging masahista.” 

For ate Jess, passion is central to her profession: “Importante po yung passionate ka sa ginagawa mo, na mahal mo ang ginagawa mo. Mahal ko po ang trabaho ko, at dahil mahal ko siya, kasunod na lahat ng importante: pagiging honest, pagbubuti sa serbisyo, at continuous learning. Hindi lang po dapat focused sa kita. Dapat mahal mo at gusto mo makakaprovide ka ng magandang serbisyo sa kliyente mo. I-upgrade mo lang ng i-upgrade ang sarili mo at ang skills mo. Hindi po matatapos pag na-upgrade mo na, dahil magiging continuous ang learning at ang mga kaalaman. Learning never stops.”
