Massage Therapist Spotlight

Meet Paulyn Huertazuela, a massage therapist who has been with GoodWork for more than a year. She has been in the massage industry for a total of 8 years, all of which are filled with training from TESDA and professional practice as a massage therapist in well-known luxury spas. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on her and the skills she generously shares with GoodWork’s Massage category.

When you speak to ate Pau, there’s little to no awkward pauses. She’s so friendly and energetic that your first meeting already feels like reconnecting with someone you’ve known for a long time. She was very eager to do the interview and had much to say about her work and life experiences.

Her list of achievements is impressive. After training with TESDA, she kickstarted her massage career in Hotel H2O: “Doon kasi ako talaga nagstart. Doon ko natutunan yung mga massage sequences.” She admits that massage work might not be for all, because it comes with its own set of challenges: “Syempre para sa beginner, mahirap sya.” She later moved on to work for 9 months in Balesin, an exclusive luxury island off the eastern coast of Luzon. All of this she accomplished by the age of 27 alongside raising and providing for 4 children.

In order to be closer to home, she decided to embark on a freelance massage career: “Since 2016, freelance na ako. Sa spa kasi, nakikicomission ka lang. At least ngayon mas maganda yung income at hawak ko na yung oras ko, hindi na kailangan yung 8 to 5 na trabaho.” Perhaps this hints to a bigger picture of who ate Pau is as a person; that she’s smart about what she spends on her energy on and takes the course of action that’s most beneficial for her and her family.

Aside from massages, her list of hobbies includes sewing. In fact, she started her own business making bed sheets and curtains from scratch: “May business din ako na bed sheet at curtains. May makina ako sa bahay. Para kasi sakin, maganda sa mata kapag pares-pares yung nasa bahay.”

We asked her what her core belief is when it comes to handling what life throws her way, and this is what she had to say: “Ang mindset ko lagi is yung law of attraction. Kung ano yung iniisip mo, yun yung mangyayari. You attract what you think.”

Because of Ate Pau’s hard work and dedication, GoodWork is able to offer home-service massages at an affordable price, without sacrificing quality. Maraming salamat Ate Pau!
