Nail Tech Spotlight: Mattz Agustin

Maria Elena Agustin—Mattz for short—is a GoodWork Nail Technician with years of beauty service experience under her belt. From specialty massages to nail extensions, you can count on Ate Mattz. Today we shine the spotlight on her and her journey as a Nail Technician.

“Noong wala pa po ako sa Goodwork at sa start ng pandemic, I was a massage therapist. Ang una kong inapply was home service po, so may idea rin ako sa home services,” she explains. “Pero umuwi ako sa’min sa Antique, at nag-apply ako sa malapit sa’min kasi gusto ko na makasama yung baby ko.”

Ate Mattz is a single mother of one, and her main motivation to work hard is to provide a good life for her 12-year-old daughter. “So natuto po ako mag hot spa, mag nail extensions, at eyelash extensions. Pero bumalik po ako ng Maynila at nag-apply sa hotel. Kahit po may pandemic, tuloy-tuloy po yung ko. Buti nalang po nakita ko ang post ng GoodWork at nag-apply ako.”

“Ang gaan ng kamay ni ate. Hindi masakit yung pagkakatanggal ng ingrown ko. Hindi siya kagaya ng iba na bara-bara kumayod ng kuko, tapos dahil manipis yung balat ng fingers ko, dahan-dahan lang niya tinanggal yung mga hang nails. Ang ganda din ng mga kulay ng gel polish. Sa uulitin, ate!”

She joined GoodWork last February, and has since taken on dozens of bookings on the app, with an outstanding average rating of 4.92 stars. “Kung ano yung gusto ng client, yun po talaga yung sinusunod ko. Depende po sa client po, kasi kailangan talaga kaibiganin si client,” she adds.

“Yung pinapanindigan ko sa araw-araw at para sa akin ang pinaka-importante sa trabaho ko ay ang pag-think positive lang tayo lagi. Kahit may mga dumarating na bagay na ‘di maganda, isa-isip natin na thinking positive po tayo,” Ate Mattz says cheerfully.
