How To Do An ACV Hair Rinse

Apple Cider Vinegar has many uses. We know it’s good for our digestive system, our beauty masks, and many more because it has properties that greatly boost our health and fight off harmful bacteria. Did you know that it has great benefits for your hair too? In this article, we’re breaking down the step-by-step process of an ACV hair rinse that you can easily do at home.

Step 1: Create the ACV rinse solution before you shower
Mix 2-3 tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar with every cup of water, in a container that you can easily pour from. The amount of ACV you’re using depends on your hair type. Generally, if you have dry hair, this will do better with less ACV. Likewise, if you have oily hair or scalp issues, it’s recommended to add more ACV to the mixture.

Step 2: Pour the solution on your hair after shampoo
While you’re in the shower and after you’ve already used shampoo on your hair, pour the ACV rinse on your hair and massage into your scalp for a few minutes. You can mix a few drops of essential oil to your ACV solution if the smell is too strong for you.

Step 3: Rinse your hair and let dry
Make sure you get all of it out of your hair. The acidic smell should be gone after rinsing. You don’t have to use conditioner after the rinse since the ACV rinse softens your hair, but if you need some extra conditioning, you may apply conditioner after the rinse.

Step 4: Use the rinse regularly
How often you do this ACV rinse is entirely up to what your hair needs. Coconuts and Kettlebells suggests doing this once a week, and only increase in frequency if necessary. According to them, “This improves the appearance of the hair, reduces itchiness, and allows for better styling. For those who experience scalp-related conditions such as dandruff, apple cider vinegar can bring relief because of its anti-viral, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties. In addition to being antimicrobial, apple cider vinegar is also anti-inflammatory, which can counteract the skin inflammation that typically occurs with dandruff and a dry, flaky scalp.”
